I read an article the other day, I think it was on CNN.com, but if wasn’t don’t beat me. Anyway there was a comment theorizing that the reason there was so much opposition for a high speed passenger rail system in the United States was not economical. Evidently some of us and you know who you are believe that building a super efficient and environmental friendly means of transportation would undermine the core values of our society and the existence of such tool would evoke a lifestyle closely related “European Socialism”. This example of thinking just goes to show me how undermined and misdirected the values of some Americans are already.
