Coffee in the Castro

July 8, 2010

Taking the Trolley up from Fisherman's Wharf to the Financial District is really inexpensive and relaxing. You get time to think about things of importance and find solutions or develop plans on how you're going to become a millionaire. It is a quite time. I finally got off in Castro, the last stop before the trolley turns to go back down Market Street to start the trip all over. Not too far from the famous Fillmore Street is a coffee shop you have to visit. On the corner of Steiner and Walker Street you'll find the "Bean There" coffee and cafe shop. A quiet place early in the morning. I had lunch for breakfast and it was fantastic. If you eat-in the coffee is served in a glass instead of cup. It's different! Oh, if you get a chance walk on Noe Street in the Noe Hills area of the Castro it is a beautiful and quiet street worth walking through.

Reminiscing On Recent Events

Currently, I am on the west coast and will be here for a couple more months exploring new opportunities here and there. I ran out of museums in Georgia and I am over qualified to be a museum curator. I joined an ocean race sailing crew of a few weeks ago and spent 3 nights and 4 days aboard a 33 foot Contessa, one of 6 in the world I am told, sail boat racing other yacht club boats. I had some experience sailing so I wasn’t completely useless. It was pretty exciting to say the least especially in high winds and rough water. It will keep you on your toes for sure. Of course I lost my good prescription glasses when they blew off my face and overboard, then I dropped my iPhone in the ocean so it turned out to be a very expensive event. I changed from iPhone to the new HTC EVO 4g now. Nevertheless, It was still less than a Princess Cruise.

No Car In The City

Hi There,

After 40 years of driving all sorts of combustion powered automobiles I decided to sell my truck, transfer ownership of my 2007 Acura TL, 2000 Camaro SS, and 2005 Rubicon Jeep to other family members then set out on foot to discover the City of San Francisco; hence that is how writing this blog became an interesting project to start. I have been on foot for the last three months and I am surviving just fine. I am not saying that I haven’t ridden in a car lately, only that I don’t own an auto personally. Being a native of California but new to San Francisco, I have found that walking is expediting my education of the city while giving me a ground-level experience that only a native and/or long-time resident can appreciate. I am understanding why San Franciscan's love their city. Hopefully, I will have the discipline to keep this blog current and interesting to readers. So grab your best walking shoes and lets stroll through San Francisco. (I don’t own a bike either but if you do, you are welcome to follow along.)

Best regards,

Kimosabee
